Electric Bikes have been rapidly increasing in popularity over the last few years, with UK sales increasing by 60% since March 2020 alone.

It isn’t hard to see why with journey times estimated to be 21% quicker compared to traditional pedal cycles, the belief that E-Bikes are safer and the obvious health benefits.

Currently 1 in 20 people in the UK own an E-Bike but demand is predicted to continue its upward trajectory as awareness increases.  The search term ‘Electric Bike’ is searched over 2.4 million times a year in the UK and nearly 40% of people in the UK say that they would cycle more if they had an E-Bike.

New and existing E-Bike owners are going to need insurance protection and the great news for Brokers is that Jackson Lee can help.  We will soon be launching a new stand-alone insurance policy designed especially for E-Bikes.

The policy has been designed with Brokers in mind with the aim that it complements any existing Home insurance offering where public liability cover and cover for theft or damage at home is often provided.

With Jackson Lee’s E-Bike insurance policy customers get cover away from home as standard and they can choose to add ‘At Home’ cover if needed, for instance if the sum insured for E-Bikes under the Home insurance is not high enough.

E-Bike Insurance features & benefits:  

• Theft - up to £10,000 cover for theft, if stolen whilst away from home including from in or on a vehicle, from a transport hub or place of work, with the option to add additional cover for theft or damage at home if required
• Material Damage – up to £10,000 for both malicious and accidental damage
• Batteries – cover for batteries even if removed from the E-Bike provided that they are kept in a secure location
• Accessories – optional cover for E-Bike accessories, don’t pay for what you don’t need
• Replacement E-Bike - bike replacement hire (up to 10% of the sum insured) if your E-Bike is stolen or damaged and you need to continue to cycle whilst we are dealing with your claim
• Breakdown – unique battery damage and breakdown cover and roadside assistance which can be selected as an optional add-on
• Personal Accident cover - can also be selected as an optional add-on
