Meet the team: Alistair Wood

Taking my first step into insurance at age 22, I started with Jackson Lee Underwriting as an administrative assistant in 2010.

By undertaking an apprenticeship in business and administration NVQ2, I gained a valuable qualification and the necessary building blocks to further my career.

With limited product knowledge, one of my biggest obstacles was overcoming the fear of not knowing how to properly answer queries. With a passion for providing the best customer support, I strove to achieve a good rapport with brokers by gaining as much product knowledge as I could.

Soon after completing my apprenticeship I began my journey to achieve Cert CII. This qualification was a beneficial and rewarding experience, building upon the foundations of my career within the insurance industry.

Over my 9 years at JLU I have taken on many varied duties but have continuously enjoyed being the first point of call for our Devon office. Building strong working relationships with brokers and assisting them with any query is a challenge I will never tire of.

GAP insurance is a product not many people are aware of, I hadn't come across it until working at JLU. GAP remains our touchstone product but over the years I have enjoyed seeing how we have developed and enhanced our product range to cater for a variety of risks.

From a young age I believed I was destined for a creative career, never knowing what form this would take, I enjoy being able to utilize my skills within various marketing campaigns.

Outside of work I like to stay active by training for and taking part in charity cycling events as well as playing for my local hockey club with weekly league games.
